Avidyne EX500 Users Get More XM WX Products And Convenient
Memory Stick Updates With Software Release 3.0
During the ongoing 2007 AEA Convention, Avidyne Corporation
introduced their Release 3.0 software upgrade for EX500
multifunction displays (MFDs). Release 3.0 expands the range of XM
WX Satellite Weather data displayed and simplifies database updates
with USB memory stick support. Release 3.0 is part of
Avidyne’s ongoing commitment to enhance its products through
software updates.
EX500 MFDs now can display XM WX Storm Tracks, Hail Alerts,
TAFs, Winds Aloft and Freezing Levels. USB memory stick support
simplifies Jeppesen NavData and Avidyne CMax™ Jeppesen
JeppView approach chart updates. Release 3.0 also prevents XM WX
service disruption inadvertently caused by XM de-activation
signals.
In
addition, all new EX500 units shipping with Release 3.0 software
will be available in a choice of the existing black bezels or new
gray bezels depending on aircraft owner preference.
“EX500 owners will appreciate the expanded range of
in-flight weather information available with Release 3.0, as well
as the convenient memory stick updating,” said Jamie, Luster,
director of aftermarket sales. “Release 3.0 makes an already
highly intuitive situational awareness display even more capable.
With moving map, flight plan, weather, traffic, lightning, terrain
and approach chart display, the EX500 is a tremendously valuable
addition to any GA cockpit.”
All new Avidyne EX500 units are expected to begin shipping with
Release 3.0 software in the second quarter of 2007 pending
final certification.
Release 3.0 software upgrades are priced at $345 and will be
available at the same time to current EX500 MFD owners. Avidyne
MFDs are field upgradeable through Avidyne authorized service
centers.
