Jeppesen iPad App To Display Garmin ADS-B Weather & Traffic Data, GPS Positioning
Garmin and Jeppesen have collaborated on an expansion of Garmin Connext ecosystem, which broadens compatibility to include Jeppesen Mobile FliteDeck. With compatible Garmin avionics, customers can wirelessly receive ADS-B weather and traffic, as well as display precise GPS position data and back-up attitude information within compatible products and devices.
“We’re excited to have the Jeppesen flagship app join the Connext umbrella of tablet connectivity,” said Carl Wolf, Garmin’s vice president of aviation sales and marketing. “Expanding the Connext ecosystem also gives aircraft owners additional options when pursuing ADS-B solutions and avionics upgrades and now, Jeppesen Mobile FliteDeck customers will have the capability to display ADS-B traffic and weather on their iPad.”
Jeppesen Mobile FliteDeck is expected to support the display of ADS-B traffic and weather, as well as WAAS GPS position information from a compatible source. Additional details regarding avionics compatibility and features will be introduced in a future release.
“Teaming with Garmin through the Connext system opens the door for enhanced situational awareness and options for the delivery of flight data,” said Scott Reagan, director, Jeppesen OEM Client Management. “This dynamic system will allow pilots to receive ADS-B weather, ADS-B traffic information and GPS positioning from their Garmin systems for display on Jeppesen Mobile FliteDeck in a connected avionics environment to further aid the decision making process.”
Jeppesen Mobile FliteDeck will feature compatibility with Flight Stream 210/110 when installed with a GDL 88/84 to display ADS-B traffic, weather and other information. Flight Stream 210 also supports the display of back-up information. Flight Stream 210/110 is a small, Bluetooth wireless gateway, which enables communication between avionics and up to two compatible devices.
