Boeing Celebrates Delivery Of Hainan Airlines' First Dreamliner

Boeing 787 To Fuel Growth Of Hainan Airlines' North American Routes

Boeing and Hainan Airlines celebrated the delivery of the airline's first 787 Dreamliner Thursday. The delivery is the first of 10 787s for Hainan Airlines. Hainan Airlines will first operate the Dreamliner on a domestic route from Beijing to Haikou. Thereafter, the airline will deploy the 787 on its North America routes, increasing the frequency of its Beijing-Seattle, Beijing-Toronto and Beijing-Chicago services, with several new destinations under consideration.

Will Allow Pilots To Complete Training On-Site At Hawaiian's Own Facilities

A "state-of-the-art" Airbus A330 Full Flight Simulator (FFS) has been opened by Hawaiian Airlines at its corporate headquarters to provide on-site training for its pilots. The simulator is manufactured by Sim-Industries, a subsidiary of Lockheed Martin, and allows Hawaiian to continue its Advanced Qualification Program for pilots using the most advanced and sophisticated technology available.

Italian Police Receive First Two AW139 Helicopters

Aircraft Will Be Based At Pratica di Mare, Near Rome

The Italian Police have taken delivery of two AW139 intermediate twin engine helicopter. These helicopters will be operated by the 1st Aviation Unit of the Italian Police and based at Pratica di Mare, close to Rome. Additional aircraft will be delivered to the customer in the coming months. The contract, which was signed in July last year, includes a total of eight AW139 helicopters.

Cassutt Special III To Compete At The September Event

Flight control avionics company UAV Navigation will sponsor a plane at the Reno National Championship Air Races and Air Show from Wednesday 9 thru 15 September 2013, the company announced Thursday. Guillermo Parodi, UAV Navigation's CEO and co-founder, will be piloting the aircraft. Plane No. 36, call sign 'N-A-RUSH', is a Cassutt Special III, a single-seat monoplane racer designed in the United States in 1951 by former-TWA captain Tom Cassutt.

Malaysian Carrier Starts Fleet Upgrade To Rapidly Expand Its Route Network

Firefly, Malaysia Airlines’ subsidiary carrier, has taken ownership of its first new ATR 72-600. The aircraft is the first of 20 latest generation firm ATRs, plus 16 options, ordered by Malaysia Airlines in December 2012. Firefly currently operates 12 ATR 72-500s, and with the arrival of the new ATR 72-600s will almost triple its exclusively ATR 72 aircraft fleet, taking the total to over 30 aircraft.

Australia's Minister for Defense Materiel Dr Mike Kelly AM MP announced Tuesday that the first of 24 MH-60R Seahawk Romeo helicopters has successfully completed its first test flight. The initial test flight occurred at Sikorsky’s Production Facility in Connecticut on June 26. It passed a range of tests including controllability, engine performance, vibration analysis and navigation as well as the ‘Contractor Flight Acceptance’ phase.
