Trig To Feature ADS-B Transponders At Oshkosh

Company Designs Avionics Compact Equipment For A Variety Of Aircraft

Trig Avionics is packing up its product line including ADS-B compliant transponders for GA in preparation for AirVenture 2013 in just a few weeks.

“Oshkosh attracts many vintage types, where a Mode C transponder failure could be in an old KT76A unit," said Jon Roper, Marketing Manager at Trig. "We have a plug and play replacement for a KT76 called the Trig TT31. This is a Mode S transponder that can also provide you with a compliant ‘mandate ready’ ADS-B Out solution, we believe this is a very sensible way of future proofing.”

The hardware required for a TT31 ADS-B Out solution includes a Trig tray, a compliant WAAS GPS and some form of automatic air / ground switching. The FAA requires a STC for any compliant ADS-B Out, fitted in a certified airplane. For homebuilders and experimental types an STC is not required.

Trig says it wants to make installing a complaint ADS-B solution as simple as possible, our dedicated ADS-B, STC program covers a growing number of airplane and GPS types. Trig expects to add an STC for Garmin WAAS GPS units soon and a FAA Field Approval process is already available for those wishing to add their own aircraft types. Trig plan to provide instructions and guidance for uncertified pilots who want to fit a compliant ADS-B Out solution.

Trig’s compact TT22 transponder is the world’s smallest Mode S and ADS-B capable device, ideal for aircraft owners where space and weight are at a premium. A separate control head and hardware unit allow installation virtually anywhere in the panel. With a depth of just over 2” the TT22 transponder is the ultimate space saver, delivering Mode S and a 1090ES ADS-B Out capability that is 2020 mandate ready. Finally, Trig’s TY91 and TY92 comm radios are highly capable 25 kHz / 8.33 kHz VHF units that complement the compact transponder range. Both radios feature; a two place intercom, dual watch capability, nine channel memories. The TY91 and TY92 radios also have installation options for the remote control of primary operating functions.
