Russia Announces End to ISS Cooperation in 2024

Incoming Roscosmos Head Ends Rumors, Announces Solo Space Station Instead

The Russian Federation has announced its intent to withdraw from the International Space Station program, ending their arrangement after fulfilling its current obligations sometime in 2024. The Kremlin issued a statement alongside recently appointed Roscosmos head Yuri Borisov laying out their decision. The announcement firms up months of rumor over the heavily sanctioned country’s involvement in the worldwide space program, causing some concern among those still supporting the ISS as it nears the quarter century mark. The Russians have done much to keep the station alive throughout its history, but Borisov seems to think it’s time they struck out on their own.

FAA Continues Battle for Secondary Flight Deck Barrier

NPRM for Additional Cockpit Protection Open for Comment

Recommendations from industry groups like the RTCA and ARAC that pushed for the installation of additional cockpit protections seem to have borne fruit, judging from recent movements within the FAA. The administration has proposed the addition of a secondary barrier against intrusion for use while the primary flight deck door is open. Transportation secretary Pete Buttigieg seems sweet on the idea, which would require new manufacture commercial passenger aircraft to come with the systems pre-installed. Currently, it does not appear to require that aircraft already in service obtain the secondary barriers, only that transport category aircraft manufactured 2 years after the effective rule

NTSB Prelim: Aeronca 7BCM

A Concerned Family Member Reported The Airplane Overdue, And The FAA Issued An ALNOT

On July 16, 2022, about 0730 Pacific daylight time, an Aeronca 7BCM airplane, N2588C, was destroyed when it was involved in an accident near Lake McMurray, Washington. The pilot was fatally injured. The airplane was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Part 91 personal flight. Tetrahedron A device normally located on uncontrolled airports and used as a landing direction indicator. The small end of a tetrahedron points in the direction of landing. At controlled airports, the tetrahedron, if installed, should be disregarded because tower instructions supersede the indicator.
