ANN REALTIME UPDATE 10.12.06 1500 EDT: ANN has
seen several reports in the general media today stating the FAA has
imposed a temporary flight restriction for flights over New York
City, in the aftermath of Wednesday's crash of a light aircraft
into a Manhattan highrise apartment building. A quick call to the
friendly folks at Flight Service confirms that these reports are
NOT TRUE.
Aviation Technology Group (ATG) tells ANN its Javelin light jet
program is speeding right along, with the accomplishment of major
milestones including completion of a Preliminary Design Review
(PDR), construction of cockpit and wing mockups, transonic wind
tunnel testing, and initial tooling fabrication to support
production of the conforming aircraft.
Decision On Whether Carrier Can Toss Out Contracts Will Come
Monday
A bankruptcy court judge was expected to rule Thursday whether
struggling regional carrier Mesaba Airlines can toss aside labor
contracts with approximately 1,500 union employees, and impose the
pay and benefit cuts it says it needs to survive... but late
Thursday night, Judge Gregory Kishel decided to give both sides
until Monday to hammer out a deal.
Aero-News learned this week that Jay Groen, chairman of Groen
Brothers Aviation, passed away the morning of October 9 after
fighting cancer for almost two years.

Aero-News has learned authorities have identified the second victim
in Wednesday's crash of a Cirrus SR20 into a Manhattan highrise
apartment building as Tyler Stanger, the 26-year-old flight
instructor who taught Cory Lidle how to fly. Lidle, a 34-year-old
pitcher for the New York Yankees, was also killed in the
accident.
