An extraordinary effort reached a milestone this week... the first flight AND return of a painstakingly handcrafted replica of the Spirit of St Louis -- The Spirit of St Louis 2.
Piloted by Robert Ragozzino, the bird made a 15-20 minute first flight and returned to a hangar in Bethany OKlahoma, for a chance to debrief and 'de-squawk' the bird before the resumption of the flight test program. What's this about? The goal of the SOS2 project is to recreate Charles Lindbergh's 1927 solo flight from New York to Paris across the Atlantic Ocean. This flight will be completed in the aforementioned replica of the original Spirit of St. Louis aircraft. Place your bets because now there’s an official company ready to take your money. The Drone Racing League (DRL) has announced a deal with Draft-Kings Inc. to make the sports technology and entertainment company an Official Sports Betting Partner of DRL. Upon completion of this deal, DRL drone races became the first aerial sporting event upon which fans can wager. Mobile sports betting on DRL drone races is currently legal in Colorado, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Tennessee and West Virginia with regulatory approvals pending in
additional states. Italian aircraft manufacturer Tecnam has partnered with ultra-freezer manufacturer DES-MON to repurpose their P2012 airplane for COVID vaccine transportation. Equipped with DESMON’s ultra-freezer designed to attain, maintain and track product temperature, Tecnam’s P2012 TRAVELCARE can transport as many as 115,000 vaccines to areas with less than 1,850 ft of paved or unpaved runway.
