Lawsuit Filed By Woman Injured By A Drone

Aircraft Hit Her In The Face, Causing Multiple Injuries

A woman who was hit in the face by a drone during a July 4th celebration at Caesars Palace Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas has filed a lawsuit against the hotel, the Great Lakes Drone Company and the individual who was controlling the aircraft.

Chicago television station WLS reports that the incident occurred June 30th at the hotel. The celebration included a drone light show put on by Great Lakes Drone Company. During that show, Monika Nourmand was hit in the face by one of the drones. It also struck Monika's mother-in-law, according to the report.

Ms. Nourmand suffered two gashes below her eye that required stitches, and she says she suffered permanent damage to her vision.

The lawsuit alleges negligence for failing to comply with federal rules that specify drones cannot be flown at night or over a crowd.

The company and the operator have both denied the allegations, saying they were in compliance with FAA regulations. A attorney for the hotel declined to comment.
