Redstone College Instructor Wins National Aviation Award

Bret Proud Is Second Redstone College Instructor Named As Regional AMT Of The Year By The National General Aviation Awards Committee

Redstone College announced today that Bret Proud, an Airframe & Powerplant instructor, was recently named a 2013 Regional Aviation Maintenance Technician (AMT) of the Year by the National General Aviation (GA) Awards Committee. The GA Awards program is a cooperative effort between more than 18 general aviation industry sponsors and the FAA.

“These awards highlight the important role played by the recipients in promoting aviation education and flight safety,” said JoAnn Hill, GA Awards Committee co- chair. “The awards program sponsors and supporters are pleased that these outstanding aviation professionals are receiving the recognition they so richly deserve.”

The mission of the GA Awards program is to recognize individual aviation professionals on the local, regional, and national levels for their contributions to aviation, education, and flight safety.

Proud, selected as the Denver and Northwest Mountain Regional winner, is a resident of Englewood, Colo. and has been an instructor at Redstone College since 2009. He instructs and mentors students in the AMT Society Maintenance Skill Competition and is an FAA Safety Team representative.

This is the second consecutive year that an instructor from Redstone College has received this honor. Jake Milstein, Airframe & Powerplant program chair, won the same award in 2012.

“This award is a great honor and we are very proud of Bret’s achievements,” said Glenn Wilson, Redstone College president. “Bret’s work with our students is remarkable and his success as an instructor is reflected in his student’s industry knowledge, employment statistics, and overall success. In fact, he has led student teams to first place finishes at the annual AMT Society Maintenance Skills Competition three years in a row. This is one of the most prestigious events in the industry, and these wins have gone a long way in establishing our college as a premier learning center.”
