EASA has certified the two latest additions to the Bombardier Global family ... the Global 5500 and Global 6500 business jets ... validating the requirement for the aircraft’s operation in the European Union.

This certification comes on the heels of Transport Canada certification and entry-into-service on September 30. The aircraft went through the rigorous flight testing program, which was completed at Bombardier’s test centre in Wichita, Kansas. The Pearl 15 engine, the latest addition to Rolls-Royce’s exceptional business aviation engine portfolio, was developed at the Rolls-Royce Centre of Excellence for Business Aviation engines in Dahlewitz, Germany. The Malibu M-Class Owners & Pilots Association (MMOPA) held its first-ever nationwide Safety Stand Down Saturday, Oct. 12, 2019. The free, one-day event, which was open to MMOPA members and non-members, took place simultaneously at seven locations across the country and featured key safety topics relevant to safe single-pilot operations of the high-performance aircraft. Each Stand Down was led by a MMOPA-endorsed certified flight instructor who specializes in training in the PA46 variants, including the Malibu, Mirage, Meridian, JetPROP, and M600. Additionally, the program was FAA approved under the Pilot Proficiency Program and eligible for WINGs credit. Lufthansa group airline Swiss has grounded its fleet of A220 short-haul airliners citing "technical irregularities" with the Pratt & Whitney engines powering the aircraft. The airline stated on Twitter that it had grounded the entire fleet of A220 airplanes, and that it is talking with regulators, the engine manufacturer and Airbus about the issues. It is currently the largest operator of the A220. All this -- and MORE in today's episode of Airborne!!!
