FedEx Pilots Deliver Holiday Cheer To 'Hope House'

Memphis Children's Facility To Receive Gifts & Food

The holidays are the busiest time of the year at FedEx. FedEx projects it will see its busiest night in history on Monday, Dec. 18, 2006 with a total of 9.8 million packages moving through the FedEx Express and FedEx Ground networks. Last year, FedEx delivered over 8.9 million packages on its busiest night, Dec. 19, 2005.

In the midst of all the controlled chaos during the holiday season at one our nations busiest businesses, some of its employees will take a little time to help those less fortunate.

FedEx pilots plan to deliver food baskets and gifts to Memphis' Hope House, a day-care center devoted to children with or affected by HIV/AIDS.

"These visits provide our pilots with a great opportunity to reach out to the communities in which we live and touch the lives of children and families who are less fortunate than we are," said Captain David Webb, chairman of the FedEx Master Executive Council, a unit of the Air Line Pilots Association, International (ALPA). "It reminds us what the true spirit of the holiday season is."

Through its Pilots For Kids program, FedEx pilots continue this annual tradition helping more than 30 families in the Memphis area celebrate Christmas.

In recent years the tradition has spread beyond Memphis to Anchorage, Indianapolis, Los Angeles and Tucson. FedEx pilots across the nation contribute gifts, clothing, food and money. They will visit schools and hospitals delivering the goodies all throughout the month of December.

During this most busiest of seasons, when we all feel the crush of time to meet work and familial obligations, ANN would like to take the opportunity to salute the pilots of FedEx who are giving to make someone else's life a little brighter.
