Hydroplane Cleans Up at CES 2023

Woman-Led Company Nabs Honors at Women and Drones for H2 Fuel Cell Development

Hydroplane left CES 2023 with a trio of awards in tow, cleaning up at the Women in Emerging Aviation Technologies Award Ceremony in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The company's work on developing its modular, 270-hp hydrogen fuel cell powerplant for small aircraft brought no shortage of eyes on their work, with its obvious use in replacing current-gen piston aircraft engines and VTOL air mobility projects. Should all go well, Hydroplane anticipates flights to begin sometime later this year.

Hydroplane's CEO, Anita Sengupta, made her way into the Women in Emerging Aviation Technologies Hall of Fame as one of a dozen inductees. Her work in building the hydrogen fuel cell company brought a lot of attention to the former NASA engineer that appeared to pay off.

Alongside her HoF induction, Hydroplane obtained the Titan Aviation Company Innovation Award from Women and Drones, shining a light on "outstanding innovation by a woman-owned company". In the same vein, the company was recognized as one of 8 to recieve the Top Companies for Women in Emerging Aviation Award. Much like the others, the award "recognizes companies, agencies, and organizations in the global emerging aviation industry with a culture where women can thrive".

“Growing Hydroplane as a company has been a journey in technical innovation, resiliency, and all-star teamwork,” said Sengupta. “It is humbling to be recognized for our work and also validating of our mission to help the planet by taking a complex challenge head on.”
