Focus On Security, VLJs

The National Air Transportation Association’s (NATA) 2005 Annual Meeting and Convention will take place March 8-10 in Las Vegas, NV, in conjunction with the Aviation Industry Week trade show.

“Experts on business management, safety and security, and federal government executives will highlight some of the hottest issues facing our industry at this year’s Convention,” said NATA president James K. Coyne.

The convention program will include sessions on:

  • Airport Takeovers – Can FBOs Still Profit?
  • Annual Washington Update and Roundtable with Senior Federal Regulators
  • The Changing Role of Brokers in Air Charter
  • How Private Equity Funds View the FBO Industry

On Tuesday, March 8th, at the Opening General Session, Robert Crandall, Chairman of the Board, and Don Burr, Chief Executive Officer of Pogo Jet, will discuss the future of new, very light jets as point-to-point air taxi services.

On Wednesday, March 9th, Transportation Security Administration head, Admiral David Stone (right), will make his first appearance at an NATA annual convention. Stone will discuss many of the security issues affecting America’s aviation businesses, including the latest activities for Twelve-Five Standard Security Program operators, security measures for alien flight students, Part 145 repair stations, general aviation airports and fixed base operators, and on-going measures to improve air cargo security.

The NATA Industry Excellence Award winners also will be recognized at the Tuesday Opening General Session.

A session dedicated to the new NATA Safety 1st Management System will describe new policies, procedures, training and measurement of company-wide safety programs offered by the association.
