Classic Aero-TV: The Ties That Bind-Innovative New GripLockTies Hold Their Own!

From 2017: The Traditional "Zip Tie" Is Dead…

That's the assessment of Mark Patey, Director of Strategic Innovations and Co-Owner of LockRight LLC, who told ANN CEO and Editor in Chief Jim Campbell at AirVenture that the product developed by his company ... GripLockTies ... will make the universally-known version of the fastener obsolete.

The rubber lining on the GripLockTies prevents the zip tie from sliding around on whatever it is securing, Patey said. Worse, he said, the tie has chaffed through a wiring bundle and shorted out a system. The GripLockTie allows the user, whether it be a pilot, off-roader or cyclist secure an item with the tie without cinching it down so hard that it damages wiring, powder coating or other finishes.

The rubber also allows the tie to be tightened down more than a traditional nylon tie because of the rubber is compressible. It also isolates whatever is being secured, such as wires, from the vibration of normal operations of the airplane.

The GripLockTie was unveiled at AirVenture 2017, and is available from the company's online store. They are currently only available in a 12 inch length, but the company is developing the processes to have them available in other lengths in the future.
