Established In Memory Of Young Aerospace Pioneer Who Passed Away Earlier This Year
The Brooke Owens Fellowship Program has been established to offer paid internships at leading aviation and space companies and organizations for passionate, exceptional women seeking their undergraduate degree.
Created by three friends of Brooke ... Lori Garver, Cassie Kloberdanz Lee, and William Pomerantz, each of whom also work in the aerospace industry ... the program honors the legacy of a beloved space industry pioneer and accomplished pilot, Dawn Brooke Owens (1980 – 2016), the Brooke Owens Fellowship Program is designed to serve both as an inspiration and as a career boost to capable young women who, like Brooke, aspire to explore our sky and stars, to shake up the aerospace industry, and to help their fellow men and women here on planet Earth.
The program was grown and nurtured, with input, assistance, guidance, and encouragement from countless more whose lives were improved by knowing Brooke. The program is run by a network of volunteer coordinators and mentors, and exists under the auspices of The Future Space Leaders Foundation, a tax-exempt 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to the career development of young space and satellite industry professionals.
Contributions are being accepted through The Future Space Leaders Foundation. Donations will be used primarily to bring the Brooke Owens Fellows to the program's annual Conference, during which the Fellows meet with each other, with hand-picked industry mentors, and with other leaders in the fields of aviation and space exploration.
The program is also looking to add to its list of host institutions offering meaningful, paid summer internships for Brooke Owens Fellows, and to grow its mentor pool. Mentors should be aviation or space exploration professionals or retirees who knew Brooke (or alumna of the program).
