American Airlines is sending out 11,000 layoff warnings to its employees, but the airlines says it's really not as bad as all that. Bruce Hicks, spokesman for American, says that fewer than 40% of those receiving the notices will actually lose their jobs; the final number is expected to be closer to about 4,400.
The Breitling demonstration jet team has decided to stand down from scheduled performances in Belgium and France after the loss of one of its aircraft this past Saturday. According to news released by Breitling, the team was enroute from the Netherlands to Belgium when “pilot Bernard Charbonnel reported an engine problem with the No. 2 aircraft. Following standard team procedures, he left the formation … and selecting the safest place for the aircraft to come down, an empty field away from people and livestock, he and his technician, Raphael Savoye ejected from the aircraft and landed safely. Following two 24-hour delays for weather, the Space Shuttle Endeavour finally lifted off on it's final voyage. Sadly this lift off was not from the launch gantry but on the back of NASA's 747 Shuttle Carrier Aircraft. Endeavour is on its way to its final resting place at the California Science Center.
