Airborne 12.30.19: New Bristell LSA, Noise Reduction Act, Global 5500-6500

Also: Car Hits Huey Cobra, Cropduster Blessings, KC-46A Pegasus, Wittman Regional Airport

Bristell has a new model that it plans to show to the public for the first time at Aero Friedrichshafen 2020.

The B8 is a high-wing, all-metal aircraft, and the order book is open. According to the company, the B8 is a strutless high-wing airplane with a steerable nose wheel and control yokes in the cockpit. The basic model will be powered by a 100 hp Rotax 912ULS, with planned options for Rotas IS, 914 and 915iS engines. The 49-inch-wide cockpit will have composite doors, and a separate door for the luggage compartment. Bristell plans a first public showing of the B8 at Aero Friedrichshafen 2020, and says it will be available for test and demonstration flights shortly after that show. NBAA, along with other industry partners has expressed opposition to H.R. 5423, the Aircraft Noise Reduction Act (ANRA), which aims to give local officials the ability to severely restrict access to general aviation airports. The bill faces broad resistance from industry groups, ranging from GA organizations to airline associations. NBAA and its allies said that H.R. 5423 would undercut the utility and safety of thousands of airports across the nation, “reversing course on the need to regulate aviation matters at the federal level.” The FAA has validated certification of Bombardier's newest Globals, the 5500 and 6500, clearing the way for the aircraft to enter service in the U.S. market. With the latest nod, Bombardier has a triumvirate of approvals for the models, with Transport Canada certification coming in late September, followed by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency’s nod in October. The first 6500 entered service in late September following Canadian approval. Bombardier also announced the delivery of the initial 6500 on order with Hong Kong-based HK Bellawings. All this -- and MORE in today's episode of Airborne!!!
