Centurion Doubles Clutch Life To 600 Hours

Claims Significant Savings For Piston Engine Owners

The Centurion Aircraft Engines AG & Co. KG from Lichtenstein/Germany said Monday that the clutch in current design level Centurion 2.0 and 2.0s diesel engines has been extended from 300 to 600 hours.

The change means the friction disk in the clutch no longer has to be replaced a 300 hours.

Centurion estimates that the change will result in a savings of about $1,300 U.S. for owners of airplanes with the engines.

In May of 2010, Centurion announced that the TBO on the 2.0 engine had been extended from 1,200 to 1,500 hours, and was seeking a further increase to 1,800 hours. The 2.0s engine still requires an overhaul at 1,200 hours.
