PWI Offers Entry Light for King Airs

Ground Illumination LED Replacement Nixes Incandescent, High-Draw Bulbs

PWI has obtained PMA approval for their LED Entry Door Light for the Beechcraft King Air.

The light mounts between the engine and the fuselage under the pilot side wing, replacing the OEM, finicky incandescent bulbs with efficient, LED flood lighting in the approach area. While safe, the mod also provides a more modern atmosphere - important for working birds aiming to impress. The light is approved for King Air 200, B200/250, 300, and B300/350s, allowing operators to have illumination over the ground below the passenger stairs. The low-draw lighting system is a simple, affordable way to minimize injuries when disembarking.

Once installed, PWI states that the kit is good for 100,000 hours of service, providing 730 lumens to the OEM bulb's 650 - all at 13% of the power draw. If it reaches its maximum expected service life, the LED will have lasted more than 333 lifetimes of the original incandescent bulb.

“King Air owners and operators, regardless of mission, will benefit from this exterior LED light upgrade," said Robi Lorik, PWI CEO and President. "As we all know, the passenger experience begins before boarding and our LED sets the tone for a pleasant flight. In addition to charter and business missions, cargo and airmed operators will also appreciate the brighter light for loading patients, cargo and equipment, without running the engines. Of course, this light upgrade features the long life and lower power draw that is the hallmark of all PWI LEDs”.

“2022 for PWI has set records for sales and new product announcements,” Lorik added. “Our most recent initiatives include the addition of resellers, dealers and global distribution partners, a new company logo and elevated product development, PWI’s leadership in general aviation.”
