Upgraded: 'Bob' Murphy

BAe Systems North America has named Robert T. Murphy as president of the company's Technology Solutions Sector. He succeeds Bruce Hamilton who has retired following a 37-year career with BAE Systems and its legacy companies.

In announcing the appointment, BAe Systems North America president and chief executive officer Mark Ronald said, "Bob has done an outstanding job as senior vice president, finance and chief financial officer since joining the company in 1999. His combination of energy, leadership ability, and competitive spirit will contribute to continued growth in this important component of the North America business portfolio."

Bob Murphy joined BAe Systems following 18 years at General Electric, where he held numerous financial positions of ever increasing responsibility. Most recently he held the role of Manager Finance - Military Engines Operations for GE Aircraft Engines.

Bruce Hamilton has been instrumental in growing BAe Systems' services business to become one of the U.S. Navy's largest technical services suppliers, and has opened new markets with agencies such as NASA and the FAA, by providing innovative solutions and customer support that have generated levels of customer satisfaction largely unmatched by anyone else in the industry. "We thank Bruce for his many years of excellent service on behalf of BAe Systems. We wish him all the best in his retirement," Ronald said.
