Legacy Aviation Acquires Neighboring Mid-Continent Airmotive

Creates Single-Source Full Service FBO/MRO At KRCE

Legacy Aviation Services has acquired its neighboring MRO facility on Clarence E. Page Airport (KRCE) in Oklahoma City, Mid-Continent Airmotive.

As a combined operation, Legacy Aviation adds to its fast growing FBO/MRO business an additional 17,300 square feet of hangar and office space, a generous ramp area, numerous highly experienced airframe and power plant technicians along with control of the airport’s new state of the art fuel farm and fueling service.

Raul (RJ) Gomez, President and CEO of Legacy Aviation is both pleased and excited over the opportunities this offers. “Gary Riggs has been the owner and leader of Mid-Continent since the 1970’s. He has always provided the highest quality service and expertise to his loyal customers. Although we have been friendly competitors and neighbors, we are both eager to start this new chapter of growth at Legacy. Having said that, we will miss Gary’s friendly presence on the field.”

The acquisition of Mid-Continent is an ideal synergistic fit to Legacy’s core business of maintenance, repair, and airframe modifications to the turboprop and light jet market segment; primarily the Twin Commander, King Air and Cessna Citation. Gomez add, “Mid-Continent employs experienced and extremely knowledgeable technicians for the King Air and Citation airframes that will be coming to us. Their addition will only strengthen Legacy’s knowledge base and the commitment to our customers for the most efficient, reliable, and cost effective services possible. Owners of these airframes can be absolutely confident in knowing they have many decades of knowledge and experience keeping their aircraft safe and operational.”

Legacy Aviation will now manage the fueling services on KRCE. Currently, the available Jet A and 100LL fuel has been available but not aggressively promoted; this will certainly change.  Uncongested Clarence E. Page Airport is located just a few miles to the west of Oklahoma City, providing 6000 feet of runway and a variety of instrument approaches for all sized aircraft. Legacy intends to immediately address the fueling business and offer extremely competitive fuel prices and 24/7 fueling services.

Now officially free to retire, Mid-Continent’s founder Gary Riggs is relieved that the business he grew is in capable hands. “From my experience I can tell you RJ and his team at Legacy are the best there is when it comes to maintaining, inspecting, repairing or structurally modifying aircraft. Honestly, if I could have chosen anyone to carry on with the Mid-Continent torch it would be Legacy. I just got lucky having them as our neighbors all these years. My customers are in very good hands.”
