Transient Man Arrested In Washington State After Tampering With Medical Helo

Had Entered Life Flight Helicopter And Stole A Flight Helmet

A man described as a transient has been arrested in Longview, WA on suspicion of prowling vehicles after he gained access to a Life Flight Helicopter on the helipad at St. John Medical Center.

The man, 24-year-old Bradley G. English, was arrested Sunday morning. He is suspected of second degree burglary, second- and third-degree theft, interfering with a healthcare facility, and other offenses.

English was detained by St. John security in the parking garage of the facility and held for Longview police. The helicopter was parked on the roof of the building. He allegedly gained access to the aircraft by bypassing security fencing, and tampered with the helicopter's controls before being apprehended. He also allegedly stole a flight helmet from the aircraft, police said.

English was booked into the Cowlitz County Jail Sunday morning.

When they inspected the aircraft, crew members found that English had apparently tried to start the helicopter. He had adjusted the throttle and thrown several overhead switches. The aircraft was grounded for several hours for inspection before being cleared to fly.
