Congressional Aviation Leaders Attend EAA Air Venture

Industry Discusses Potential Legislation With Inhofe, Graves

By John Ylinen

Senator Jim Inhofe (R-OK) and Representative Sam Graves (R-6-MO) … both EAA members … attended AirVenture this year, as they have for many years.

The two members of Congress held a small gathering ... mostly by invitation ...  at the show Saturday. Both took the opportunity to discuss aviation-related issues with those in attendance. Senator Inhofe (pictured) discussed his first Pilots Bill of Rights, saying it was a great first step, but that many important items were not included.  He hopes to do a second Bill in the January 2014 timeframe.

He asked the pilot community to help him out in developing the items that need to be in the second bill.  To provide an organized process to collect those ideas he is calling on EAA and AOPA to coordinate and consolidate those comments.

Aero-News hopes that EAA and AOPA will take this request very seriously and develop a very transparent and inclusive way to allow members and Pilots to submit their ideas and suggestions and for other members and pilots to see those ideas in an anonymous way.  We should take this task very seriously and use this opportunity to help Senator Inhofe develop the best legislation possible.
