Embry-Riddle's Summer Academy Offers Variety Of Programs For Teens

Aviation And Aerospace Camps At Both Florida And Arizona Locations

Teens who'd enjoy hands-on exploration of aviation and aerospace topics may want to sign up for the Summer Academy operated by Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University at either its Daytona Beach, FL or Prescott, AZ campus.

In Florida, the Summer Academy offers the following camps, some of which may be taken for college credit: Aerospace I, Aerospace II, Aviation Career Exploration, Aviation Discovery for Women, Aviation Voyage, Flight Exploration, Generations, and SunFlight. The Summer Academy runs from June 7 to Aug. 9, with individual camps ranging in length from five days to 49 days. Application is required a month before the start date of each camp.

These Summer Academy programs for students ages 12-18 include housing in an Embry-Riddle student dormitory, on-campus meals, classroom instruction, and educational materials. Students in some camps will take field trips that may include Kennedy Space Center, Orlando Science Center, Fantasy of Flight, a major theme park, and a water park. Transportation for off-campus activities is provided by Embry-Riddle.

In Arizona, the camps are open to high school students ages 14 to 18. The Summer Career Exploration programs give students a college experience at the world's most prestigious university for aviation and aerospace education, with all of the programs taught by Embry-Riddle faculty using state-of-the art facilities. These programs allow teens to connect with other students who share common interests while exploring various education and career paths. The camps to be offered in Prescott include Aerospace Engineering, Computer Engineering, Flight Exploration, and Generations.

The cost for each camp includes housing in an Embry-Riddle student residence hall, on-campus meals, classroom instruction, educational materials, and transportation for off-campus activities and field trips.
