Award Recipients Lauded For Making Safety Part Of Organizational Culture
At the 12th Annual European Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition, four companies were honored as recipients of the 2012 EBAA Safety of Flight Awards, given their outstanding safety records. The awards were presented in conjunction with the 2012 European Business Aviation Safety Workshop, which has become a traditional component of EBACE. In his remarks during the reception, European Business Aviation Association (EBAA) President Brian Humphries said, “the awards recognize the careful and conscientious attention to safety maintenance and operation that is part of a culture embodied at the companies’ flight departments.”
This year, three companies received the Platinum Safety of Flight Award for achieving at least 50 years or 100,000 hours of safe flying: DC Aviation GmbH; TAG Aviation; and PrivatAir SA.
In addition, one company, VistaJet, received the Silver Safety of Flight Award for achieving at least 30 years or 60,000 hours without an accident. Humphries explained the significance of the annual safety honors: “We know that safety is a matter to focus on day after day, year after year. That’s why, several years ago, we decided that part of this day must include recognition of companies that have made safety a continuing mission, and have the accident-free records to show for it.”
“Companies like the ones we’ve recognized – and all the others who took part in this year's Safety Workshop – have not been content to rest on their laurels,” added National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) President and CEO Ed Bolen. "Instead, they’ve taken advantage of the resources offered by EBAA, NBAA and others. And they’ve made the safety of flight a part of their organizational culture.”
