Boeing Directors Zip Lips on 7E7 Dreamliner

But Word Is... Dreamliner Will Go To Assembly Line

The decision has been made. Wrapping up two days of meetings in Chicago, Boeing's board of directors Monday decided the fate of what would be the company's first new line of aircraft in more than 13 years.

Only they're not saying what they decided.

"If we do have news to share, it will be done out of Seattle," said company spokesman Ken Mercer. "But there will be nothing sooner than Tuesday."

Word from Boeing HQ, however, is that the project is a "go." In fact, word from Seattle is that the company will assemble the Dreamliner at its factory in Everett (WA).

That's bound to be a major disappointment to other cities across the US which had bid for the opportunity to become the 7E7's home. But many were trying to put their best face on in the wake of reports that Everett and not their towns had been chosen.

"We're sitting here waiting to see what comes out of that board room in Chicago," said Albert Anderson, of the Port of Moses Lake, which operates the former Air Force base in that town. "If it goes to Everett, we'd be happy."
