Autel Robotics Introduces 8K Evo II Drone

Calls The Aircraft A 'Mavic Killer'

A new drone from Autel Robotics was introduced at CES 2020 in Las Vegas. The 8K Autel Evo II is billed as a potential "Mavic Killer" by the company.

Autel Robotics says on its website that the Evo II will have a standard 7100mAh battery that provides up to 40 minutes of flight time in forward motion or 35 minutes in hover. The drone can be controlled at a range of up to 4.8 nautical miles, and has a dozen computer vision sensors controlled by a dual-core processor and AI machine. It can detect potential hazards up to 100 feet away from the aircraft and autonomously control the speed of the drone to avoid a collision. The system can also navigate itself in all directions while avoiding obstacles.

The Evo II is the only 8K folding drone currently available, according to Autel Robotics. It captures content at a resolution up to 8000x6000 pixels, allowing those images to be printed up to 100 inches wide.

The company also plans an Evo II Pro that captures 6K images, and an Evo II Dual that will include a thermal camera.

The starting price for the Evo II is $1,495, according to the website. Availability will be announced at a later date.
