Three-Year Deal Includes Pay Raises and Quality of Life Improvements
After more than a year of negotiations, the leadership of Air Wisconsin’s pilot cadre, as represented by the Air Line Pilots Association (ALPA), has reached a tentative agreement (TA) with the airline’s management vis-à-vis a collective-bargaining agreement.
Upon reviewing subject TA, the Air Wisconsin ALPA Master Executive Council (MEC) approved such, and decreed unanimously that the agreement ought be put before the entirety of Air Wisconsin’s pilots for a full ratification vote.
Over its three-year duration, the newly-proposed TA includes nearly $48-million in added value, including 38- and 54-percent pay-increases for captains and first-officers respectively. The deal includes, also, scheduling and reserve improvements, as well as the creation of a new ALPA-Company Fatigue Review Panel, which will provide pay protection for fatigue events determined to arise from workplace rigors.
Air Wisconsin MEC chair Captain Jack Roback stated: “When we began flying for American earlier this year, our pilots told us they expected to be paid the same as pilots at AA’s wholly owned carriers. This agreement accomplishes that goal and should help us attract more pilots who would otherwise find better-paying jobs at AA’s other regional partners.”
Prior to the late 2022 signing a new capacity purchase agreement with American Airlines, Air Wisconsin operated as a United Express partner. Air Wisconsin pilots opened negotiations with the company’s management in August 2022 and commenced flying for American in March 2023.
Founded in 1931 and representing over 75,000 pilots in the employs of 43 U.S. and Canadian airlines, to include upwards of four-hundred Air Wisconsin aviators, the Air Line Pilots Association, International is the world’s largest pilot union.
