Bell Delivers First Of Long Ranger 'Six-Pack'

The first aircraft of a six unit 206L-4, "LongRanger" order has been delivered to Rotorcraft Leasing Company (RLC), a major Gulf of Mexico (GOM) helicopter operator.

The addition of the new LongRanger brings the RLC fleet to a total of 52 Bell aircraft. The RLC fleet now includes 16 JetRangers, 28 LongRangers, 6 407s and two 412s, making the firm the third largest helicopter operator in the GOM. The contract for the six aircraft was executed in late 2004, and provides for the delivery of the remaining five aircraft in the fourth quarter of 2005.

Lloyd Marks, founder of RLC, praised the 206L-4, commenting, "The LongRanger is a proven machine, and provides our offshore customers with reliable, cost effective transport. It is a no risk solution for everyone involved. When it comes to getting passengers, and priority cargo to a facility in the Gulf, the LongRanger is one of the most sensible ways to do it".

Rodger Bagwell, a general partner, and major investor in RLC, added, "The LongRanger's reputation in general, coupled with Bell's strong background in GOM operations, and their deep commitment to supporting this segment made this a very easy decision. The best total value package that the LongRanger gives the customer is why this series dominates the single engine helicopter population in the GOM."

The 206L-4 LongRanger remains a favorite of offshore operators, with 50% of the total 2005 production going to the offshore segment.

RLC, headquartered in Broussard, LA, focuses on servicing offshore production and exploration facilities in the GOM, from six bases along the US Gulf coast. The company has recently consummated a purchase of the aviation assets of Omni Energy Services, Inc., which included 20 Bell aircraft.
