Golden Age Aviation Completes First One-Day Sport Pilot Ground School

Many Students Are Ultralight Pilots

Golden Age Aviation, Inc. announced last week the first batch of students has completed the first one-day training program that guarantees successful completion of the sport pilot written examination. The class, held in Cushing, OK was full to maximum capacity.

Representatives with Golden Age told Aero-News that most attendees were active ultralight pilots, participating in a three-part program offered by Golden Age.

"We are seeing a lot of interest in our entire ultralight conversion program, as the January 31, 2007 transition date now looms over the horizon," said Golden Age's Earl Downs, who was  designated by the FAA to administer sport pilot and sport pilot instructor practical tests, and to issue student pilot certificates.

January 31, 2007 is the deadline date for qualified ultralight pilots to utilize their ultralight flying experience as full credit for the sport pilot certificate training requirements.

"This fast track... program is specifically designed to give sport pilot applicants the knowledge they need in the most convenient time frame possible," Downs added. "Our course is ideal for anyone training to become a sport pilot in any form of light sport aircraft (LSA). The course applies to fixed-wing airplane, weight shift control, gyrocopter, glider or powered parachute LSA pilots."

"After spending one fun day talking about flying, the attendee will pass the sport pilot written exam, which gives a person up to two years to complete his or her flight training."

A number of attendees also obtained their sport pilot student certificates at the conclusion of the class.

Cost of the one-day course in Cushing is $195, including class study materials. Golden Age will also conduct out-of-state classes, as long as at least 10 students are registered.
