Flies From Chicago To London Without A Ticket Before Being Caught
For most of us, flying on an airliner means buying an (often expensive) ticket and dreading the security line. Neither of those things is true for 66-year-old Marilyn Hartman, who has been arrested for at least the 10th time for avoiding security and airline personnel to board an airliner.
Hartman's most recent trip was from Chicago's O'Hare to Heathrow in London. Somehow, she managed to get past TSA with no boarding pass or ID, and "blended in" with passengers while boarding the airliner.
While this is Hartman's 10th arrest for being a stowaway, she has slowed down some. She was arrested eight times in in 2014. She was caught twice in two months in 2015, and has also tried the stunt in California and Arizona. She even has spend a year in jail for her repeated offenses, and was released on probation to a nursing home in December 2015, according to a report from Fox News.
While it is not clear how she got past TSA, video cameras around O'Hare show Hartmen wandering around the airport for two days before finally making it on to a flight. Once on board, she hid in the lavatory until she could find an empty seat.
The crew notified Heathrow that they had a stowaway on board, and authorities were waiting for the plane when it arrived. When she could not show a passport, she was sent back to the U.S., and was arrested on arrival back at O'Hare.
A spokesman for TSA said Hartman was screened at the security checkpoint, but somehow managed to get through without a ticket. The spokesman said that it was not clear how she managed to evade federal authorities.
