The Vickers Wave LSA Amphibian Will Be Powered By The Continental Motors Titan IO-340CC Engine
The Vickers Aircraft Company was founded by Paul Vickers who is now its CEO. The company builds the Wave aircraft which is a two-seat next generation ASTM S-LSA amphibious aircraft. The company is based in New Zealand, and deliveries of the Wave are scheduled to begin in 2016.
Now, the Continental Motors Group Ltd, and AVIC International Holding Corporation Company, announced that Vickers Aircraft has selected the Titan IO-340CC to power its Wave Amphibian.
Johnny Doo, Executive Vice-President Marketing and Sales, Continental Motors said, “We are extremely proud to have been selected as the engine provider for the Vickers Wave. This innovative new amphibian two seat ASTM LSA needed a real aviation engine that offered more than the traditional 4 cylinder motors available on the market. The Titan engine offers a unique combination of power, low weight and modern technology accessories. It is easily integrated with the latest avionics available to the LSA market.
Paul Vickers, CEO, Vickers Aircraft said, “The Titan is a very modern engine when compared to the competing 4 cylinder products in that power range and has a stellar track record regarding reliability. We looked at all the solutions available, evaluated engine manufacturers and discussed in depth with them. We quickly found out that Titan, under their new ownership by Continental Motors, were able to deliver on all the subjects that really matter to us.”
Vickers continued, “The weight characteristics of the Titan IO-340CC were another factor that drove our decision. The weight savings on this engine are enough to allow us to comply with the LSA ASTM standards without compromising reliability or safety.”
