Governor Sununu Declares March 'General Aviation Appreciation Month'

Economic Output For GA In New Hampshire Is More Than $1 Billion Annually

New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu has declared March 2017 “General Aviation Appreciation Month.”  The economic output of general aviation in New Hampshire is over $1 billion annually.

“In New Hampshire, general aviation plays an important role in supporting agriculture, tourism, and critical access to our rural communities,” said Selena Shilad, Executive Director of the Alliance for Aviation Across America. “We thank Governor Sununu for issuing this proclamation and recognizing general aviation and local airports.”

“Business aviation is a vital tool to companies in New Hampshire,” said Ed Bolen, president and CEO of the National Business Aviation Association. “It connects businesses of all sizes to new markets and opportunities, allows them to transport tools and supplies, and helps them to compete in an increasingly globalized environment. We thank the governor, and look forward to working with him on issues critical to business aviation.”

Mark Kimberling, President and CEO of that National Association of State Aviation Officials (NASAO) stated, “General aviation airports and aircraft represent a key component of the state’s overall transportation infrastructure, providing a lifeline for business, charitable activity and emergency services. We thank Governor Sununu and Director of the Division of Aeronautics, Patrick Herlihy, for their work in supporting general aviation and community airports throughout New Hampshire.”

According to the proclamation:

“According to the New Hampshire Department of Transportation, there are 118 registered airports throughout the state, and 1 out of every 1,000 workers in New Hampshire are employed in the aerospace and aviation industry, representing a significant economic impact to the state.”
