The Airplane Factory of South Africa had three of their Sling aircraft on display at Sun ‘n Fun 2016 that were flown there from their distributor located in Southern California. ANN CEO and Editor-In-Chief, Jim Campbell, checked in to find out about their trip and to pick their brains about the art of cross-country flying in a light sport aircraft. Matt Liknaitzky, the president of The Airplane Factory USA and Jordan Denitz, the sales and marketing manager for The Airplane Factory USA, where there to visit with Jim.
While this video has lots of good shots of the Sling airplanes, the conversation dealt with the art of taking long trips in a light sport aircraft. Remember, The Airplane Factory has flown their light sport aircraft around the world a couple of times, and the advice they give is worth paying attention to for any recreational aviator.
Their conversation provides a great lesson in aeronautical decision-making and points to the fact that the term “light sport” does not in any way mean limited flying. Tune in, and you’ll pick up some good hints regarding ADM, cross-country planning, and safety.
