There was no tape draped across a finish line, but NASA is celebrating a win.

The agency's Mars Exploration Rover, Opportunity, completed its first Red Planet marathon last week of 26.219 miles. It’s time from start to finish was roughly 11 years and two months. It’s reported that the rover team at JPL plans a marathon-length relay run at the laboratory next week to celebrate. EAA has already announced a number of spectacular aircraft that are planned to show up at AirVenture 2015, and now they tell us that we will have a chance to stomp around a Boeing B-52 Stratofortress bomber. The Stratofortress is celebrating its 60th year in service and this marks the first time a B-52 will be on ground display during event. The FAA has issued a Safety Alert For Operators encouraging air carriers to incorporate scenario-based go-around training into their pilot training curricula. The issue at hand is a phenomenon known as somatogravic illusion. This is a case where what the eyes see, and the balance system of the inner ear feels, don’t coincide. All this... and MORE in today's episode of Airborne!!!
