Thousands of Boeing employees in Renton, Washington celebrated the completion of final assembly of the first 737 MAX 8 earlier this week.
The freshly painted 737 MAX 8, named the Spirit of Renton, was revealed to employees in a special teal version of the Boeing livery. After celebrations are complete, the airplane will undergo pre-flight preparation in the factory before departing for Renton Field to continue flight test readiness. The airplane is on track for first flight in early 2016. Any airshow is great, but when you have a major military jet display team, such as the U.S. Navy Blue Angels as part of the show, it adds to the excitement and the attendance. If you happen to be a fan of the blue Angels… and who isn’t … you’ll be able to plan ahead because they have just released their performance schedules for 2016 and 2017. Airbus has booked 850 firm orders for 2015 compared to 568 for Boeing. In Boeing's latest report, it indicated there had been eight new orders for Boeing 737s from "undisclosed customers," but also reported eight cancellations for the same airplane. Overall, Boeing reported its gross
plane orders at 655 for the year against 87 cancellations. All this -- and MORE in today's episode of Airborne!!!
