Finnish Aviation Academy Signs For Two Phenom 100 VLJs

Embraer Planes Will Replace Older Turboprops

Embraer recently signed an agreement with the Finnish Aviation Academy for two Phenom 100 very light jets. The customer will use the aircraft for flight training. The Phenom 100s will replace Finnish Aviation Academy fleet of elderly turboprops, and the first delivery is scheduled for 2010.

“We are exceptionally pleased to welcome the Finnish Aviation Academy – the first flight training school in the world to have access to the Phenom 100 – to our growing Phenom 100 customer base,” said Luís Carlos Affonso, Embraer Executive Vice President, Executive Jets. “Destined for careers with airlines in Finland, these students will get a terrific start to commercial flying with the large-format glass-cockpit flight displays and integrated system aboard the Phenom jets.”

Students will have the opportunity to experience the outstanding performance of the Phenom 100 with the Prodigy Flight Deck, based on Garmin’s all-glass, fully-integrated avionics suite. The Phenom 100 offers a flight deck remarkably similar to the biggest commercial jets, featuring two Primary Flight Displays (PFD) and one Multi-Function Display (MFD). The system integrates all primary flight, navigation, communication, terrain, traffic, weather, engine instrumentation, and crew-alert system data, and presents the composite information in brilliant, sunlight-readable color on three high definition active matrix liquid crystal displays.

"We are excited to be able to offer training in a brand new aircraft that incorporates all the latest technology available to pilots today," said Esa Lohikivi, Maintenance Director of the Finnish Aviation Academy. "We expect the Phenom 100 to be a terrific recruiting tool for the Academy and a good teaching aid for students as they transition from pistons and turboprops to flying jets."

The Finnish Aviation Academy is a vocational special purpose school located in the city of Pori, Finland. The school was founded to train professional pilots for the Finnish professional aviation needs. The Finnish Aviation Academy is jointly owned by Finnair, the national airline of Finland, the State of Finland and the city of Pori. The training provided is vocational adult training, and the number of students is annually determined based on the need for new pilots by the Finnish airlines.
