ARINC Steps Up Support Of Aviation In Middle East

Will Accelerate Work On VHF Network In Region

Following major contract wins at three of the largest airport construction projects in the Middle East, ARINC Incorporated this week announced it will accelerate its planned investment in the region by building out an extensive network of VHF air-ground stations over the coming months.

ARINC previously installed two new VHF stations at Bahrain and Dubai, and those are already operational. It now plans an aggressive rollout of VHF stations across the region to support the increasing requirement for ARINC data link services in the Middle East. At the 2007 Dubai Air Show Monday, ARINC also announced its African coverage will be expanded with new VHF station deployments at Nairobi, Johannesburg, and Capetown in the coming months.

ARINC says the expansion of VHF infrastructure will add to current voice and data link coverage for EMEA, and permit cost-effective new communications for carriers. The company has also just expanded the capacity of its AviNet core global network by the addition of two new network nodes in Dubai.

ARINC’s mission-critical AviNet network carries half of the world’s air operational communications and has served commercial airlines and government organizations for more than 70 years. It also carries a major share of electronic business communications such as Type B networking to support the aviation and travel industries. ARINC’s expanded network capacity at Dubai now enables the company to offer other types of proven and innovative communications solutions in the region.

One innovation, the AviNet Mail messaging service, has already proven a big success in EMEA, adding over 650 mailboxes in the last 2 years. Among well-known corporate names who have moved to the AviNet Mail messaging service in recent months are PWC Aviation, Z Aviation Services, UAS, Palm Aviation, and Hadid International.

An Internet-based messaging service, AviNet Mail offers subscribers reliable access to both Type B networks and e-mail systems from any location in the world.

"ARINC is constantly adapting its product offerings to meet EMEA’s market demands and to address the challenges our customers face on a daily basis," said David Poltorak, Vice President & Managing Director, ARINC EMEA.  "New capabilities and add-ons will further strengthen AviNet Mail’s position in both the EMEA region and the rest of the world."

ARINC’s AviNet now switches 3 billion IATA messages a year (40% of the world’s Type B messaging traffic), and supports all the major protocols and IATA formats across the global network. It carries 65% of the world’s air operational communications, as well as delivering the world’s leading satellite broadband services. Over 260 airlines use ARINC’s IT products and services, contributing to the security, effectiveness, and efficiency of civil aviation operations worldwide.
