NASAO Elects Georgia's Carol Comer As Board Secretary

Licenced Pilot And Flight Instructor Currently With Georgia Department Of Transportation

Carol Comer, Director of the Intermodal Division for the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) has been elected Secretary of the National Association of State Aviation Officials' (NASAO) Board of Directors.

A licensed pilot and flight instructor, the Concord, North Carolina native has served with the Georgia Department of Transportation for more than 14 years. Comer manages program operations and develops policies for non-highway modes of transportation including aviation, rail, waterways and public transportation.
 
Prior to her current position, Comer was manager of the Aviation Program. She began her GDOT career as an aviation planner and airport development engineer. Before joining the Department, she was with the Aviation Division of the North Carolina Department of Transportation. Comer represents GDOT in various capacities including the Georgia Transit Association and Georgia Airports Association. She has been very active in NASAO and has testified before congress on aviation issues.
 
The mid-term election was the result of the previous Secretary stepping down to take a position in the private sector. Comer will assume her responsibilities as Secretary immediately and will serve on the Executive Committee with Chairman, Thomas M. Booth, Jr., Mississippi, Christopher J. Willenborg, Massachusetts, Vice Chairman and David Gordon, Colorado, Treasurer. Debbie Alke, Montana, is Immediate Past Chairman.
 
Since 1931, NASAO has represented the men and women in state government aviation agencies who serve the public interest all across the nation.  These highly skilled professionals are full partners with federal officials in the development and maintenance of America's aviation transportation system.
