Any Time's the Time for 'Helicopter Heroes'

Newest Service of the HAI Highlights Deserving Airmen

From interstate pile-ups to 40-foot seas, helicopters and the crews who pilot them save lives every day around the world. Many times, EMS personnel perform these rescues. Other times, law enforcement, civilian volunteers, and even private pilots are at the stick.

In an effort to pay tribute to these men and women, as well as the aircraft they pilot, the Helicopter Association International has created the Helicopter Heroes web page.

To produce Helicopter Heroes, HAI searches news reports from around the world for stories of rescues, medevacs, and other services that reinforce the role of the helicopter as a life-saving tool in society. While not a chronological archive, Helicopter Heroes does provide readers the opportunity to search past entries using the HAI search engine on the right side of the browser screen.

[Disclaimer: Because Helicopter Heroes is an informal forum, HAI cannot claim to serve as an official source of information on rescue events occurring either in the United States or abroad.]
