AOPA Air Safety Foundation To Unveil Latest Seminar At AirVenture 2007

"Regulations: What Every Pilot Should Know" Debuts July 25

AirVenture 2007 presents an excellent opportunity for pilots of all stripes to brush up on the latest in training, gain better understanding of regulations, and review the necessary skills required to operate as a safe and efficient aviator.

Earlier this week, Aero-News presented but a few of the multitude of seminars, presentations and exhibits AirVenture attendees may take in. There isn't enough room -- even on our pixilated pages -- to list ALL the choices... but we felt one more organization was worth adding to that list.

The AOPA Air Safety Foundation will take the wrapper off of its newest seminar, "Regulations: What Every Pilot Should Know."

AOPA notes this seminar might be subtitled "How Not To Lose Your License." When it hits the road after Oshkosh, an attorney from AOPA's Legal Services Plan will be in attendance at every presentation.

Here are the descriptions, dates and times for Regulations, and the rest of the seminars AOPA ASF will present next week.

Wednesday, July 25, 2:30-3:45 p.m. - "Regulations: What Every Pilot Should Know"

Rules were meant to be broken, right? Well, some federal aviation regulations (FARs) are cited again and again in accident reports as causal factors. This seminar will review which FARs are most often cited in accident reports - and therefore should be followed - and review FARs that are often misunderstood or forgotten by pilots.

Thursday, July 26, 1:00-2:15 p.m. - "Airspace Made Easy ... Or At Least Understandable"

Faced with today's airspace, yesterday's pilots might have just thrown up their hands in disgust. "How do you keep it all straight?" they'd demand. "TFRs, MOAs, CFAs, MTRs, TRSAs, transition areas, floors, ceilings, controlled, uncontrolled, inverted wedding cakes, and all those classes! And who took Class F airspace anyway, and where did they put it?"

Friday, July 27, 11:30 a.m.-12:45 p.m. - "Say It Right! Radio Communication in Today's Airspace"

Ever heard a radio call that made you scratch your head -- or worse yet, cringe? Attend this seminar and learn to avoid those embarrassing slip-ups. Plus, elevate your overall communication effectiveness with practical guidance on VFR and IFR operations, challenges at both towered and nontowered airports, and getting help in an emergency.

Saturday, July 28, 1:00-2:15 p.m. - "Single-Pilot IFR"

Short of an emergency, there's probably no greater test of a pilot's skill than flying single-pilot IFR. This seminar offers techniques to help you rise to the challenge. We'll take a quick look at common IFR accident causes and important issues like lower-than-forecast weather, cockpit organization, avionics, and situational awareness.

ANN encourages our readers to check out as many forums, seminars, and other educational opportunities they possibly can throughout AirVenture... and throughout the rest of the year, too.
