Fund Established For Kyle and Amanda Franklin

Kyle Reportedly Improved, Amanda Is 'Stable'

A fund has been established to assist Kyle and Amanda Franklin, who were both injured when the biplane they were flying during an air show went down during the performance.

The Commemorative Air Force Rio Grande Wing, which is the sponsor of "Air Fiesta" reports on their website that Kyle's condition has improved, however Amanda is still listed in "stable" condition, and her injuries are "severe."

As ANN reported Saturday, the accident occurred during Air Fiesta 2011, at the Brownsville-South Padre Island International Airport, Saturday afternoon. Information corroborated by airshow industry observers indicate that the Franklin's Waco started having visible/audible power difficulties during the act, and that Amanda quickly repositioned herself into the airplane prior to the impact. Photos show the aircraft fairly level (slightly right wing low... banking toward a clearing) and reasonably well-positioned for the accident, with significant visible smoke just prior to landing in tall scrub, brush and trees.
