Zenith CH-601 Down In Texas Lake

Two Aboard Survive, Rescued By Boaters

Two people who were on board a Zenith Zodiac CH-601 suffered minor injuries Friday when the plane went down in Lake Palestine near Berryville, TX on July 4.

The Smith County Department of Public Safety told television station KTEK that the plane had departed from Berryville airport. It was not known if there were mechanical problems with the airplane before it went down.

The pilot, 56-year-old Gary Buster and his passenger, 25-year-old Aaron Buster, were rescued by boaters from the lake after the plane impacted the water. Texas Parks and Wildlife officials marked the spot when the plane sank, and they will scan the bottom using side-scan sonar to locate the wreckage.

The two were transported to Tyler hospital. The older Buster was reported to be in fair condition, while the younger occupant of the plane was listed in good condition.
