Head For Southern Illinois... The Midwest LSA Expo Is ON!

Finally, A Chance To Get A Solid Dose Of TRUE Aviation Goodness... For An Entire Weekend!

After having to write story after story about one aviation event after another falling prey to the COVID-19 pandemic, it sure is nice to come across an event that has managed to stay alive... and doing so SAFELY.

The Midwest LSA Expo is ON, and we're so excited about it, we're thinking of loading up and heading there for ourselves next weekend.

Scheduled for September 10 – 12, 2020 (next week!) at the Mt. Vernon Outland Airport (KMVN) in Mt. Vernon, IL (way down at the South end of the state), the 12th Midwest LSA Expo is confirmed to be ON, as of today (and not likely to change)! The FREE event features many Light Sport Aircraft, including Part 103, STOL (Short Take off and Land) and Gyroplanes on one easily accessible and demo friendly flightline. Sit in one or many informative aviation seminars/forums presented by some of the best in the industry. It’s all there, this September 10-12, and again, let us emphasize that its got free admission, free parking, free local shuttles, and free camping!

The event has an extensive seminar and forum lineup including...

  • Flying with Rotax Engines, by Brett Lawton, Leading Edge Airfoils
  • A Pilot’s Guide to Aircraft Maintenance Records, by Colonel Bob McDaniel, C-141 Pilot, USAF Ret.
  • Special Use Airspace, by Lt. Colonel Steve Willis, F-16/F-4/T-38 Pilot USAF Ret.
  • Sport & Private Pilot Checkride Preparation, by Steve Goetz, FAA Designated Pilot Examiner
  • Aerial Adventures/Cross Country in a Gyroplane, by Hank & Stan Konzelman -- and much, much, more!

Now... Is that a deal or what?

So... for those of you worried about COVID-19, here's the straight skinny... the Midwest LSA Expo tells us they are concerned for the health and safety of all attendees, exhibitors, volunteers, and airport employees. That said; the expo will adhere to CDC, State of Illinois, and Jefferson County Health Department recommendations. Social distancing, mask wearing, sanitizing, and the encouragement of good personal hygiene will be stressed. With 100% of the expo activities occurring either outdoors on the airport’s ten-acre concrete ramp (aircraft/ancillary displays) or inside the airport’s Corporate Hangar (forums/seminars), Illinois Phase IV guidelines can be met or exceeded. Thanks to the Jefferson County Emergency Management Agency, Midwest LSA Expo has more than enough PPE and sanitizer for all attendees, exhibitors, volunteers, and airport employees. So... worry not.

Keep an eye out for some of the ANN crew, it's pretty likely that we'll abandon the Sunshine State for a few days and venture North... we hope to see you there.
