'Egg Boy' Seth Holloway To Miss AirVenture This Year

Was The Among Youngest Passengers To Fly Aboard Aluminum Overcast,

Six years ago. Seth Holloway paid for a flight on Aluminum Overcast. He earned his payment by selling eggs. At 12 years of age, he had to interview to fly unaccompanied on the B-17.

On arrival at AirVenture that year, he met Doug Ward. Doug was an icon and hero to all as a belly gunner on B-17s in WWII. Doug contacted EAA about Seth. EAA decided to interview Seth and record his flight on the B-17. Seth earned the call sign “Egg Boy” during his interview.

Unfortunately Doug Ward has Gone West. However, he was smiling on Seth when the young man received an appointment to the U.S. naval Academy and earned his private pilot certificate in the same week.

While Doug and Seth will not be attending EAA this year, we can all be proud of Doug’s history as a true hero to us all. Seth, meanwhile, is halfway through his Plebe Summer at the USNA.
