System Securely Transfers Time-Sensitive Data Including Avionics Databases, Maintenance Information
EASA has certified Rockwell Collins Aircraft Information Manager (AIM), the secure data transfer system for Pro Line Fusion, Pro Line 21 and Pro Line 4 avionics, for 22 aircraft models.
“We continue to see the universal benefits, as evident by these international certifications, in the convenience and time savings that AIM securely provides,” said Greg Irmen, vice president and general manager, Flight Controls and Information Systems, Commercial Systems for Rockwell Collins. “This is the first round of AIM certification in Europe. In addition to Europe, we are planning certifications in Asia, Africa, and Central and South America.”
AIM securely uploads flight critical database updates and downloads maintenance information post-flight using available Wi-Fi and cellular data connections throughout the world. Depending on the avionics generation, AIM automatically transfers databases including: Flight Management System (FMS) navigation, electronic charts, terrain and surface management, among others.
AIM eliminates the need to carry dedicated laptop computers, floppy diskettes, or USB memory devices. It automatically delivers flight-critical updates to the aircraft wherever it lands, bringing significant time savings to flight departments. Maintenance departments can also access maintenance files from the aircraft on the AIM Web portal.
