New Route Added For Branson Airport

Private Facility Also Names Concessions Vendor

Officials with the Branson Airport, the first privately developed and operated commercial service airport in the US, announced this week it is expanding air service with AirTran Airways.

When the airport opens May 11, AirTran will offer daily round trip nonstop flights to General Mitchell International Airport in Milwaukee, WI, in addition to its previously announced service to Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport in Atlanta, GA.

"As Branson's first carrier we are pleased to add Milwaukee, WI as our second non-stop market," said John Kirby, AirTran Airways senior director of strategic planning and scheduling. "Advance bookings for our Atlanta flights remain strong, and service to the upper Midwest is a natural next growth step."

"Expanding our service footprint to Milwaukee means the traveling public will now have easier access not just to the Midwest, but better access to both coasts as well using AirTrans' daily nonstop low-cost flights to and from Branson," added Branson Airport CEO Steve Peet. "We view AirTran as a great and growing partner. This is another big step in our expanding partnership with AirTran."

The airport also has named an exclusive food concessions provider. Famous Dave's BBQ Restaurants will open a full-service restaurant at the airport.
