Options On Six More; First Delivery In April '07

Embraer announced Monday EgyptAir Holding Company has placed a firm order for six Embraer 170s, with options for another six aircraft of the same type. Delivery of the first aircraft is scheduled for April 2007, when EgyptAir will also celebrate its 75th anniversary.

The Embraer 170 will operate under EgyptAir's newly created subsidiary, EgyptAir Express, and the aircraft will be the launch airliner in EgyptAir Express' newest fleet.

The aircraft will be configured in a single class layout, with seating for 76 passengers.

Indeed, following a very technical assessment, the Embraer 170 came out as the right aircraft to help launch our new subsidiary, EgyptAir Express," said Eng. Atef Abdul Hamid, Chairman of EgyptAir Holding Company, who commented on the new acquisition. "We consider Embraer a true winner, as the Embraer 170 perfectly responds to the new concept we are implementing within our continuing growing market."

The Embraer 170's operations intend to serve primary and secondary destinations and integrate them within the Egyptian domestic and regional market.
