Microsoft Flight Simulator 40th Anniversary Edition Imminent

Guimbal Cabri G2 Helicopter Added to Virtual Fleet

Comes now November 2022, and Microsoft’s storied Flight Simulator program attains the distinction of being the tech-titan’s longest-running software product line—predating Windows by three-years.

Most versions of Microsoft Flight Simulator include digital iterations of popular aircraft deriving of the military, commercial, business, and general aviation sectors. From Lockheed’s F-22 Raptor, to Boeing’s 737, to Textron’s Longitude, to Beechcraft’s Baron, and Robinson’s R22, the diversity of flight experiences available to Microsoft Flight Simulator aficionados remains among the program’s most enduring and compelling selling-points.

Microsoft has announced that its soon-to-be-released Flight Simulator 40th Anniversary Edition will introduce the Guimbal Cabri G2 helicopter to the company’s expansive fleet of virtual aircraft. The G2—a two-seat light helicopter produced by France’s Hélicoptères Guimbal—has gained considerable popularity in both the U.S. and across the world since its 2008 introduction.

Jorg Neumann, head of Microsoft Flight Simulator, states: “Coupled with its modern features and sleek design, the genuine interest by Guimbal and the high level of collaboration with the Microsoft Flight Simulator team allowed us to get a very accurate digital representation of this cutting-edge helicopter.”

In addition to the Cabri G2, Microsoft’s Flight Simulator 40th Anniversary Edition includes iconic machines such as Howard Hughes’s Spruce Goose, de Havilland’s Beaver, and the Wright Flyer—each of which imparts dimension and character to Microsoft’s perennial favorite while enriching the user experience.

Guimbal manager of sales and support for precision Sarah Brazel remarks: “We are thrilled to be working with Microsoft Flight Simulator to add the G2 to the simulator. Our hope for this program is that a new generation will be inspired by the possibilities of modern flight training and will see real career opportunities in the helicopter industry.”

Microsoft’s Flight Simulator 40th Anniversary Edition is strategically slated for an 11 November 2022 release.
