WAI Conference Will 'Connect, Engage, Inspire'

Event Coming Up In A Month In Dallas, TX

The 26th Annual International Women in Aviation Conference has as its theme to “Connect Engage Inspire” and plans are in place to fulfil that commitment. This year’s Conference will be held on March 5-7, 2015, at the Hilton Anatole in Dallas, Texas.

“We have something to offer every member at our Conference – from the youngest to the oldest, from the most experienced to the newcomers,” says WAI President Dr. Peggy Chabrian (pictured).

During the conferenc, AOPA will connect with some of its members as well as WAI members while hosting a Rusty Pilot Seminar. This seminar is scheduled for Thursday, March 5, 2015, from 7 pm to 9 pm at the Hilton Anatole. Attendees who complete the course will be given a signed endorsement label that shows their participation. Attending the Rusty Pilot seminar fulfills the minimum requirement of one hour of ground instruction toward a flight review. This seminar is free and open to the public.

Girls in Aviation Day, Dallas (formerly Daughter Day) is a continuation of this successful program that invites and engages girls ages 10 to 17 to learn more about aviation. Held on Saturday, March 7, 2015, Girls in Aviation Day includes activities ranging from building an airport to learning to read a sectional chart and simulator flying. Girls learn how to use A&P tools by making bracelets. The day also includes a scavenger hunt and time in the Exhibit Hall. More than 200 girls are expected to take part in this year’s event. The cost is $10 per girl or chaperone, including lunch.

A roster of speakers for the Friday and Saturday General Sessions will be sure to offer inspiration to attendees. These speakers include: Colleen Barrett, President Emeritus, Southwest Airlines; Pat Blum, co-founder of Corporate Angel Network; Ravi Chaudhart, Executive Director for Regions and Center Operations at the FAA; Donna Hrinak, Boeing President Brazil and Latin America; LtCol Jen Notheifer, USMC; and Heather Penney Major, DC Air National Guard.

“These are just a few of the plans we have for our jam-packed conference,” says Dr. Chabrian. “Add in social events, interviewing, networking, touring the exhibit hall, educational sessions, tours of aviation facilities in the DFW area and more for three days that go non-stop.”
